Experts say school girls should not be flogged

Teachers administer corporal punishment for disciplinary purposes on students especially in public schools. The punishment, which involves flogging the erring student either on the buttocks or on the hands with a whip, is meant to create a more disciplined environment.
On the other hand, while scores of educationists are of the view that corporal punishment is a humiliating way of instilling discipline and should be abolished, others believe that without it, students may take a wrong turn in life.
French Language Village: Teachers kick against pay cut

Teachers at the Nigeria French Language Village Staff School in Badagry, Lagos State on Thursday protested against what they described as the continuous short payment of their salaries by the management of the institution.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the protest, which was peaceful, crippled activities in the school as pupils were sent home.
Some of the teachers claimed that the NFLV management had refused to honour its agreement with the teaching staff, despite several promises.
