NASU Strike: University of Ibadan to commence semester exam January 8


The University of Ibadan has announced that its second semester examinations for the 2016/17 academic session would commence as scheduled from January 8, 2018.

This is in spite of the strike action embarked upon by members of the non teaching staff of Nigerian universities.

 The Non Academic Staff of the Nigerian Universities, comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Non- Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions, NASU commenced nationwide strike since Monday December 4 2017.

The NON teaching staff in the universities have said that their members will not resume work today pending when the Federal Government will pay them their Earned Allowances totalling over N66 billion.

ASUU: Catholic bishops declare strike as unnecessary, a burden But the Federal Government has promised to mop up money for the non teaching staff comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, Non Academic Staff Union of Universities and Associated Institutions, NASU, and National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, alleging that the N23 billion released to the four university based unions was hijacked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

WAEC releases 2018 exam timetable for private candidates


 

The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has announced that it would be conducting two series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidate from 2018.

According to a post on the official twitter handle of the council @waecnigeria, the first series will be conducted between January and February, while the 2nd series will be conducted between August and October every year.

JAMB fixes dates for 2018 examination


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said on Wednesday morning that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in 2018 would hang on March 9 to March 17, 2018.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, reported this amid a continuous partners’ meeting, saying that the dates were picked “taking into perception the dates of other open examinations.”

The board said the ridicule examination would hold between January 22 and 27, including that the application charge remained N5000.

University of Alberta, Canada holds seminar in Lagos

Lagos orders relocation of 64 private schools

The Lagos State government has directed 64 private primary and secondary schools to relocate because of their alleged non-conduciveness for human and educational activities. The number is from over 6,000 private schools operating across the state.

The Director-General, Office of Quality Assurance, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo who disclosed this at the annual school managers’ workshop organised by the League of Muslim School Proprietors (LEAMSP) in Ikeja, recently.

Soyombo said the affected schools were operating in either swampy or flooding areas or very dirty and poorly ventilated structures as well as in places totally unsafe for human beings.

2018 UTME: JAMB bans pens, wristwatches in centres


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), coordinator of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has prohibited the utilization of wrist watches and pens amid the direct of its 2018 test.

The board’s Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede revealed this to newsmen on the sideline of a sensitisation workshop for Computer Based Test (CBT) focus proprietors on Wednesday in Lagos.

As indicated by him, the workshop was to assess the enlistment and lead of the 2017 examination.
