• To be able to access our services anytime, you must be a subscriber first, which means will be required to pay a simple yearly subscription fee of 5,000 naira only. After which you pay our service fee per tutor we get for you as a student or parent, our service fee is dependent on the kind of tutor you required or the program you are enrolling for.

• Each tutor is required to pay a sum of 5,000 naira per year for subscription, service fee for tutor is dependent on deal we broker on your behalf which is mostly a percent of negotiated fee with the parents.

To create a tutor account on Tutor Mavens, please click on the Become A Tutor, fill in the form and confirm via a link that will be sent to your email. Login and completed your application by updating your profile.

If your subject is not included in our database, simply choose the closest subject that matches your discipline. You can always tell users your exact subject specialty in your profile.
Otherwise contact us and we will try our best to help you.

Any tuition requests will be sent to you by email. You will receive this information about the prospective pupil detailing information about the request, which will be sent directly to your email address. If you click on the link, it will direct you to your account, where you can view and respond to the request. It is important that you promptly accept or decline a job offered to you, so that pupils are able to otherwise look for another suitable tutor. Failure to do so may lead to your account becoming suspended.

Once you accept a job, and the Pupil has confirmed they would like to commence tuition with you, the pupil’s details will be unlocked and you will automatically be sent through the request. This will include the pupil’s contact details so you can go ahead and arrange your first lesson. A Pupil will also receive your details so you are free to contact each other, please do so promptly.

Please note: Once you accept a tuition request, you are entering into a contract with the pupil to perform the tutoring services you have advertised, so please make sure you are fully able to meet the requirements of the pupil prior to engaging in this contract.

You can update your profile at anytime by logging into your account on the website. You will be able to update your profile, including subjects, fees and any other information in your DASHBOARD area. This service is available 24/7.

Student can always rate or review your work and performance after commencement of tuition to offer feedback about the tutor. We will ask them to rate the tutor and offer any constructive feedback. This information will automatically show on your profile when any student search for Tutors in our database. We do this for your benefit because people always like to know when something is good. So the more feedback you receive, the more tuition requests you are likely to receive.

We do advise that all our tutors hold applicable references, when it comes to working with young children. It would be helpful for parents and pupils if you had up to date reference, based on previous experiences. Parents are advised to request these and do a follow up.

The answer is no, although a lot of tutors are qualified teachers; tutors may be academics, professionals and graduates. What is important is that anyone who has a skill and knowledge in a subject area may tutor. Parents and pupils are looking for different abilities and credentials in tutors. Yes, we give you the option in the registration process to specify how you will arrange your tutoring sessions. If you wish to offer online tuition, you can specify this on your profile, as some pupils will be seeking tutors who offer this service.

Please Note: As specified in our Terms and Conditions, we will not be responsible for the collecting or distribution of payments for tuition, so please make sure that you arrange this with the pupil prior to engaging in any tuition. Also note that you are advised to have some training in tutoring online, as students will give feedback on this as well.

All tutors work on a self-employed basis and are therefore, responsible for their own earnings.

Also, your documentation can only be viewed by our verification team who review your credentials, and decide whether they meet our criteria for approval.

Ultimately the students themselves will decide to take you on as a tutor if they feel comfortable that your profile matches their search criteria.

You may want to edit some of your information, such as your hourly rate, or the distance you can travel to teach.

Every tutor ultimately has students who are interested to engage them. You can search for students whose requirement match your subjects and message them.

Yes, all messages will be sent to the student. We encourage our tutors to find out more information about a student’s requirements before accepting them. So when you choose not to accept a student, your messages will still be sent out.

If you no longer have any availability for students, you can temporarily deactivate your account. This will prevent students from messaging you, and a note will be displayed on your profile stating you are unavailable.

To temporarily deactivate your account, go to your profile and set privacy. If you would like to re-active your account, please follow the same procedure.

The Annual Membership gives members the benefit of receiving unlimited tutoring requests throughout the year without having to pay any further commencement fees.

Tutor Mavens’ objective is to bring together students and tutors. However, our tutors are self-employed and so they decide who they will get in contact with. It might be that the tutor you contacted already has a full schedule.

We encourage our tutors to respond even when they are not available at that moment. They could become available sooner rather than later. We would advise that you message 6-7 tutors so you are more likely to receive a response.

Also, try and keep an eye on a tutor’s response rate. This will give you an idea of how quickly they will respond to your message.

Click on the list of the tutor from you dashboard, it will take you to the tutor profile then you can click view more where you can post a review and rate the tutor.

If you are no longer in need of a tutor you can temporarily deactivate your account. This will prevent tutors from messaging you, and a note will be displayed on your profile stating your account is in activeness.

To temporarily deactivate your account, go to the members home page and click on ‘set privacy’. Here you can change your ‘profile status’ from active to inactive. If you would like to re-active your account, please follow the same procedure.
