The senator representing the Lagos East District at the Senate, Gbenga Ashafa, has said education without Information Communication Technology is inadequate.
The senator, who spoke on Friday at the handing over of computers and furniture to the Orimedu Community High School, Orimedu, in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, said the need for ICT in Nigerian schools and the ability to use computers effectively must become an essential part of education.
He said, “In Nigeria of today, if we take a look at our primary and secondary schools, we will notice that chalkboard and textbooks still dominate classroom activities; there is a need for a change in the status quo.
“With the high demand for computer literacy, especially by employers, we must ensure that our children have access to computers right from primary school for development of their ICT skills.”
