As part of its corporate social responsibility, Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese Plant, Ogun State, has awarded scholarships valued at the sum of N25m to students of tertiary institutions and secondary school pupils in 15 host communities in the state.
A total of 100 students in various tertiary institutions and 15 pupils benefitted from the company’s gesture. The beneficiaries are from the Ewekoro and Yewa North Local Government areas of the state.
The Manager of the Ibese Plant, Armando Martinez, said the gesture was part of the company’s resolve to encourage the young ones to go to school and in return, to rebuild their respective communities.
Dangote Foundation donates secondary school in Lagos worth N120m
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dangote Group, said he has plans to implement a scholarship programme for less privileged children in the state.
The Dangote Foundation said it has donated a well-equipped secondary school in Lagos valued at N120 million as part of its interventionist programme to boost education. The foundation has also offered annual free tuition to 250 indigent pupils. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Group, said this at the inauguration and handing over of the school with well-equipped laboratories to Nawair-Ud-Deen Comprehensive College, Idi-Oro, Mushin, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
In a statement signed by Tony Chiejina, the head of communications of the group, Dangote said: “Aliko Dangote Foundation started in 1993 with the principle of `to whom much is given, much is expected’ and looking at the less privileged ones among us have compelled the foundation to provide some reliefs.
Dangote Committed To Education
Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Group, has pledged his commitment to the development of education and healthcare sector, as he bagged the Ahmadu Bello University’s top Corporate Award.
Mr Tony Chiejina, the Head, Corporate Communications, Dangote Group, in a statement on Monday in Lagos, said that Mr Ahmed Mansur, the Executive Director, Stakeholders Management and Corporate Communication, represented Dangote at the award.
The award was presented by the University’s Alumni Association in recognition of Dangote’s numerous contributions to the development of the nation’s education sector.
Dangote said that the award would spur the conglomerate to scale up its intervention programmes in all sectors.
“Dangote Group will not rest on its oars in ensuring that the educational sector achieved its rightful place in Nigeria,” he said.
Also, Prof. Ahmed Mora, the National President, Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association, said that the interventions of Dangote Foundation in the education sector had been unprecedented through the years, especially, its various scholarship programmes.
On Universal Healthcare Coverage, Ms Zouera Youssoufou, the Dangote Foundation Chief Executive, said that the foundation would continue to work with governments and civil society organisations for the development of impactful health sector programmes in Nigeria and Africa.
