FG partners Chinese firm on smart classrooms


THE Federal Government on Wednesday launched smart classroom digital education to link up children and schools to digital learning.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, with primary school teachers who were trained on the use of Information and Communication Technology for teaching, during the launch of Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (Edo-BEST) programme in Benin City, recently. Already the Federal Government has commenced a process for the implementation of a partnership strategy between Nigeria and a Chinese firm for the establishment of digital education institute and provision of smart learning classrooms across the country.

Edo, UK universities start student exchange

Edo University, Iyamho and Sunderland University, United Kingdom have signed an agreement on a students exchange programme.

Speaking with journalists, the Director of International Studies, Sunderland University, Ian Moody, who led a delegation to Edo University, said the partnership would benefit both students and staff, as Sunderland provides a multi-culture community for staff and students.

Edo Government to prosecute parents for denying children access to education


The Edo State Government has said it will arrest and prosecute parents and guardians, who violate the Child Rights Law, especially those who deny their children and wards access to education.

Edo Govt. okays 300 schools for New skills-based curriculum


Three hundred schools in the basic education sub-sector have been selected for the implementation of the Edo State’s new skills-oriented curriculum that will leverage on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who said this in his New Year broadcast, explained that his administration was set to implement the reforms in the educational sector starting with a pilot that includes 300 basic schools.

EDO STATE EMERGE WINNERS OF LAFARGE NATIONAL LITERACY COMPETITION


Edo state has risen champs of the 2017 Lafarge National Literacy Competition. 11 year old Yusuf Hassan and 10-year old Faith Toun-Agbai from Edo state developed champs in the definitely challenged finals.

Alternate finalists were Plateau, Anambra, Ondo, Kano and Gombe. Ondo state took the second prize while Kano and Gombe developed third and fourth separately.

Oby Ezekwesili, previous Minister of Education while conveying a keynote address at the occasion complimented Lafarge for concentrating the activity on open elementary schools the nation over.
