Katsina Governor, Masari Sacks Education CommissionerThe Katsina State Governor, Bello Masari, has sworn in Badamasi Lawal Charanchi as the new Commissioner of Education.

Swearing in of the new commissioner is an effort to address the lingering decay of the public education sector in Katsina state.

The state governor charged him to change the culture of the huge idle manpower at the education ministry.

Until his appointment, Charanchi was the special adviser to the governor on higher education.

Masari fires education commissioner who called for teachers to undergo aptitude test


Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has on Thursday sacked his Commissioner of Education, Professor Halimatu Sa’adiya Idris. Governor Masari demotes principal, head teacher A press statement signed and made available to newsmen in the state by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi quoted a letter personally signed by the Governor, saying the Commissioner was relieved of her appointment with immediate effect.

Her statement has caused serious tension and apprehension in the state with many calling for her ousting.

Masari in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, Masari said taking into account the fact that political activities leading to elections would commence early next year, “it has become necessary for  the government to bring more active politicians on board so as to fasten activities of governance”.

Katsina state government refunds N80m WAEC, NECO exam fees to parents

The N80 million is to cover the fees the parents paid for their wards for the 2017 WAEC and NECO examinations

The refund was for only candidates who obtained at least five credits and above. The sum of over N80 million has been returned to parents by the Katsina state government, to cover the fees they paid for their wards for the 2017 Senior Secondary School WAEC and NECO examinations.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s director-general, media and publicity, Malam Ibrahim Muazzam, in a press statement, on Tuesday, December 19, noted that the refund was for only candidates who obtained at least five credits and above at the examinations.
